Summer Placement Engineer

We are looking for an Engineer either in their first or second undergraduate year (paid placement) to join our busy engineering development team based in Cambridge in July 2026.

 

The Role

We are offering an exciting engineering opportunity for a passionate and motivated student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in the field. During your 8-week placement, you will be an integral part of our engineering development team, contributing to real projects and learning from industry experts. In this capacity, you will be responsible for a small project which will include designing, prototyping, testing, and leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and testing of electro-mechanical products
  • Conduct detailed engineering calculations and analyses, such as FEA and tolerance analysis
  • Support the creation of 3D models and technical drawings using Solidworks and PDM
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, product management, and quality
  • Participate in prototype testing, data analysis, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with CAD software and engineering principles
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems
  • Teamwork: A proactive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and documentation
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to design and testing to ensure quality and accuracy
